Kwania District is set to receive UGX 11 billion from the Government of Iceland to support infrastructural development in some of the Government Aided Primary Schools and Health Centers.

Kwania District is set to receive UGX 11 billion from the Government of Iceland to support the rehabilitation and construction of classrooms and health facilities in communities along the shores of Lake Kwania.
The Kwania District Chairperson, George Kakoma Akacha, said the district's planning department had submitted a request to the Government of Iceland for UGX 12 billion under the U-Catch Up Programme, which is being implemented in both Kwania and Amolatar districts.
Akacha commended the district's heads of department for designing and submitting development projects.
He cited the head teacher of Amorigoga Primary School, who successfully secured funding for the construction of a four-classroom block and toilet facilities.
He also praised the head teacher of Amorigoga Primary School who wrote the proposal to Japanese Embassy that has supported the school with two classroom blocks with one office together with 17 stances of toilets for both Boys and Girls, Abany Primary School, who obtained support for the construction of one classroom blocks.
He revealed that the Government of Iceland has agreed to support the district with the shs11billion implementation.
The funds will be used to renovate and construct infrastructures like classrooms, toilets among others at primary schools and health facilities in Atongtidi, Chawente, Nambeso and Ayabi sub-counties, as well as Ayabi Town Council.

Akacha urged councilors to collect challenges facing locals in their areas for redress, mobilize locals to embrace government programs.
He urged civil servants to submit challenges facing residents to councilors for them to be addressed through appropriate government channels.
The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Kwania District, Fredrick Herbert Kitutu, said that one of the major challenges affecting service delivery is the limited knowledge among some councillors.
He noted that the district is awaiting support from the relevant government ministry to facilitate an induction training programme for newly elected councillors.
Kitutu added that once the ministry provides the required support, both councillors and district technical staff will receive orientation and training.
He explained that the district will utilize its limited local resources to organize the training in the event that government does not support the same.
