Man Arrested After Machete Attack on Brother’s Wife, One-Year-Old Child

What the report says
Police in Sembabule District have arrested a 30-year-old man, identified in the Nile Post report as Yoweri Muhweezi, after an alleged machete attack on his brother’s wife and her one-year-old daughter. The incident took place in Kyera Village, Kinoni Sub-county, Lwemiyaga, and left the child, Nisha Akakunda, with a severed right foot, according to the article.
The report says the child’s mother, 19-year-old Faith Kamusiime, was also badly injured. She alleged that the confrontation began after a dispute involving Muhweezi’s mother and the presence of a traditional healer at the home. Kamusiime told the publisher that she was first slapped, then chased outside and cut with a machete. She said the child was struck while being carried on her back during the attack.
Nile Post reported that both victims were receiving treatment at Life Care Medical Centre in Lwemiyaga Town, and a doctor said they needed additional care, including antibiotics, to prevent infection. Residents condemned the violence, while Lwemiyaga MP Emmanuel Rwashande provided an ambulance to help move the victims for further treatment.
Masaka Regional Police spokesperson Twaha Kasirye confirmed that the suspect was in custody and said he was being charged with attempted murder. Police said investigations are continuing. The case highlights the severity of family-related violence and the medical and legal response that can follow such attacks.
