What the report says

Uganda International Fashion Week (UIFW) is preparing to bring designers from Africa and India to Kampala for its 2026 edition, according to Nile Post. The international guests are set to appear alongside Ugandan creatives, adding a wider regional and global dimension to one of the country’s major fashion events. The lineup mentioned in the report includes designers from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Nigeria and India.

Among those highlighted are South African designer Kwenzi Nkomo, Zimbabwe’s Danayi Madondo, Kenya’s Hellen A. Tolbert, Nigeria’s Ikpen Yvonne Kwitti and India’s Rahul Singh. Nile Post says the event will be produced by South African fashion industry veteran Andiswa Manxiwa, whose background includes modelling and fashion production.

UIFW founder Santa Anzo said the aim is not only to stage runway shows but also to connect local designers with people who have built brands in other markets. The event is being framed as a way to support skills exchange, broaden access to continental markets and create commercial opportunities for young creatives. In general, fashion weeks often serve both showcase and networking roles, helping designers meet buyers, collaborators and media.

The schedule begins with a free Fashion & Business Expo from August 30 to September 1, followed by the Grand Finale on September 5 at Kampala Serena Hotel. Organisers say the expo will give young creatives space to display and sell products, while also promoting fashion tourism through Uganda’s culture, food, craftsmanship and other creative industries.
