Four Remanded to Luzira Over Murder of Former SC Villa Captain David Owori

What the report says
Nile Post reports that four suspects have been remanded to Luzira Prison in connection with the alleged murder of former SC Villa captain David Owori and two separate aggravated robbery cases. The accused are David Ahumuza, 18; Elvis Munguci, also known as Sadik Emmanuel Commander, 19; Francis Ssegawa, 20; and Martin Lubega, 18. They were brought before Makindye Chief Magistrate Sarah Basemera at Makindye Court, which ordered them held until September 10, 2026.
According to the prosecution summary presented in court, the case centres on an incident said to have happened on August 4, 2026, in Dubai Zone, Makindye, Kampala. Prosecutors allege that the suspects, together with others still at large, robbed Owori of two mobile phones and a bag containing his belongings before killing him. The court also heard claims that the attack had been planned.
Nile Post further says the same group is accused in a separate robbery involving Congolese national Dr Jackson Ombeni Paver, who was allegedly robbed of an iPhone 11 Pro Max, cash equivalent to about Shs300,000, and a bag containing a passport and other documents. The article adds that two of the suspects, Arafat Magumba and Ahumuza, also face another pending aggravated robbery matter. The magistrate said the offences are capital in nature and must be heard by the High Court, where the suspects may apply for bail. In Uganda, capital offences are typically among the most serious criminal charges and are handled by the higher courts.
