How Uganda's first home-grown AI Platform will create million jobs

The 256 AI is the Artificial Intelligence platform designed in Uganda to drive jobs and digital trade.
The platform designed by the software engineer Queen Dorothy Amolo, the former Oyam South Mp candidate was officially unveiled on July 13, 2026 in Lira City.
This platform will empower the ordinary Ugandan and bridge the digital gap through easing access to digital economy, connect rural producers to the global markets and create millions of jobs.
“Our main objective is to create jobs and expose the local person on the ground to digital marketing of their commodities. We are not only doing this in Uganda. We are actually marketing this in America,” Amolo said during the official unveiling on Monday July 13, 2026.
The 256 AI will benefit the government, investors, academicians, lawyers and all professionals.
“The 256 AI will act as a “national mole in the villages” where a farmer with 10 sacks of simsim can sell directly to buyers online in minutes,” she added.
The AI tools available and how it works
The platform, built under 256 Apps, comes with several flagship tools such as; The Government Digitalization.
Free: 256 AI will build websites and digital platforms for all government ministries for free. Government will only pay for maintenance.
256 Link Shield – Free: A cybersecurity tool at 256.co.ug to protect users from data theft
256 Express: A location-based service for emergencies, restaurants, law firms, dentists and other quick services.
Digital Marketplace: Direct link between farmers and buyers, traders and consumers across Uganda and abroad.
256 Layer VIP: A verification and AI assistant for politicians, celebrities and VIPs.
Multilingual Access: The AI will be translated into 6 local languages including Acholi, Lango and Luganda among others to ensure no Ugandan is left behind. This will help journalists, content creators and other professionals.
So far, the team has built 100 websites ahead of the launch. The platform will also generate legal contracts for download within a day.

Dr Jason Michael Boyle, the husband to Queen Dorothy Amolo who also contributed in the design of the 256 AI described it as “the new digital system for the economy of the world because everything can reach out to the world in a few minutes.” he said.
