Amolatar NRM Party leaders fired over alleged theft of LC1 elections money

Leaders of National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party in Amolatar District have been temporarily relieved off their duty to pave way for investigations into the allegations of theft of party fund.

Kamilo Olwit, the district party chairman, the treasure only identified as Aminah and Boniface Pule, the party administrator were arrested few days ago over the matter but were on Thursday released on police bond.

The district security committee meeting chaired by Amolatar Resident District Commissioner, RDC Francis Okello Odoki Rwotlonyo held on Thursday July 23, 2026 resolved that the trio should step aside until the court case against them is disposed off.

“We found that its necessary for them to be discharged off their duty to avoid interfering with the investigations,” he said.

Godfrey Ayena, the district NRM Party vice chairperson will now takeover to run the party activities on an interim assignment.

Olwit and the two others have been accused of disbursing the LC1 elections campaign mobilization fund less by Shs 50,000 contrary to the guideline sent.

According to the guideline issued by the NRM Party secretariat, each the NRM Party chairperson flagbearer for the LC1 chairperson elections was supposed to receive the facilitation of Shs 100,000.

Some party leaders welcomed the move adding that this will deter those in office from corruption.

Bosco Olal, an NRM Party member in Etam Town Council Commended the district security committee for ensuring accountability of every fund received.

“I am very happy with the action taken. I am praying that they should go to jail so that this can serve as a lesson to others,” he said.
