Alur Kingdom's Kaal Ayuveni Chiefdom Unveils 2026 Executive Cabinet to Strengthen Leadership

The leadership of Kaal Ayuveni Chiefdom has unveiled a new executive cabinet for 2026, aimed at strengthening governance and promoting development across the chiefdom and its 12 clans.

The appointments were announced on Sunday, August 2, 2026, by Chief Rwoth Nesta Odaga Oledhire II at the chiefdom headquarters during the third royal council and executive meeting of the year.

The cabinet restructuring seeks to achieve enhanced governance and accountability, targeted development focus, a shared commitment among leaders, cultural preservation, and inclusivity, among other core objectives.

Chief Oledhire II directed the new leaders to assume office immediately, with a formal swearing-in ceremony scheduled for September 2026.

While unveiling the new executive, Chief Oledhire commended the outgoing cabinet, which had served since 2018, for its dedicated service.

Minister for Persons with Disabilities: Omika Tanisilawu

Minister for the Diaspora: Ugen Kennedy

Treasurer: Lemingom Frances

Runner: Angala Micheal Ovona

Head of Security: Jawiambe Coline

The positions of Japir and Director of Communication/Spokesperson remain to be filled.

Advisors were also named to support the executive:

Owenja Ben (Culture), Okello Sam (Education), Odaga Albert (Finance and Diaspora), and Okethwengu Richard (Agriculture and Environment).

After announcing the new cabinet, Chief Oledhire issued a strong call for unity and delivered a firm anti-corruption message, warning that he would not tolerate corruption among the leaders.

“I want to openly caution you, our new leaders, against corruption. Let me be clear: our service is voluntary, and we are here to serve our people. Avoid corruption entirely. If you engage in it, I will ask you to leave because I will not tolerate it,” Chief Oledhire said.

He repeatedly emphasized the warning and urged the new leaders to focus on the development of the chiefdom, mindful that their services are voluntary.

The Chief then asked each appointed leader to openly declare whether they accepted the appointment; all accepted with reverence.

Rwoth Oledhire directed the new leaders to begin work with immediate effect, pending their formal swearing-in next month.

The Chiefdom Prime Minister (Jadipu), Urwoth Openja Pitic Sanctus, urged the new team to prioritize the chiefdom’s core pillars of agriculture, education, health, and environmental sustainability.

“I appeal to you to ensure that you promote our core principles: agriculture, education, health, and environmental sustainability,” Openja said.

He also stressed the need for focused strategies tailored to local needs, such as boosting productivity, preserving resources, and supporting vulnerable groups including persons with disabilities and women through the Gender ministry.

Kaal Ayuveni is a chiefdom within the Alur Kingdom, comprising 12 clans: Kabibi, Agombi, Kothe, Jalumayu, Adanga, Juputeng, Jupathwon, Ukongu, Avolu, Raja, Jupujuku, and Meu. These clans contribute to cultural preservation, local governance, and community development.

The chiefdom maintains networks with other chiefdoms under the Alur Kingdom, one of Uganda’s enduring traditional authorities. Kal Ayuveni is among the 64 chiefdoms under the Alur Kingdom that pay allegiance to Alur King His Majesty Ubimu Phillip Rauni Olarker III.

The new 2026 cabinet transitions from the 2018 team, aiming to inject fresh energy while honoring past service. It seeks to help the chiefdom address current challenges such as sustainable development and community cohesion within the larger Ker Alur framework.

The initiative aligns with the Alur Kingdom’s ongoing call to streamline leadership structures across all clans under the Ker Alur. This is intended to enhance effective cultural leadership, ensure continuity, and safeguard the preservation of Alur cultural heritage.

According to the Kingdom, streamlining clan leadership will reduce decision-making bottlenecks, delegate administrative responsibilities, clearly define roles, boost operational efficiency, strengthen group loyalty, and enable faster and more decisive conflict resolution.
