What the report says

Kampala businesswoman Susan Kushaba has been charged before Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court in connection with comments prosecutors say she made about several public figures during appearances on The Investigator TikTok account. According to Nile Post, she faced three counts of sending false distress signals under Section 82 of the Uganda Communications Act and denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Ritah Kidasa Neumbe on Thursday morning.

Prosecutors Allan Macunguzi and Grace Amy alleged that, between January and October 2026, Kushaba made derogatory statements in areas including Mukono and Wakiso. The court was told she referred to Kampala Minister Minsa Kabanda as a land grabber and fraudster, accused State Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs Kabuye Kyofatogabye of fraud and embezzlement, and made similar allegations about Muzamiru Katumba Mirundi in connection with land at Kamwokya KCCA Primary School.

Kushaba denied all the charges, and the prosecution asked for an adjournment while investigations continue. The case has been set for a bail hearing. Nile Post also noted that the matter comes amid a long-running political rivalry between Kushaba and Kabanda, linked to disputes over Owino Market leadership and the Kampala Central parliamentary race, which Kabanda won on the NRM ticket.

The article places the dispute in Uganda’s wider political and online speech environment, where livestreams and social media posts can lead to criminal complaints if authorities believe they cross legal boundaries.
