What the report says

Roke Telkom has launched its Roke@20 celebrations in Kampala, marking two decades of operations in Uganda’s telecommunications and ICT sector. The breakfast event was held at Roke House in Bugolobi and drew Uganda Communications Commission chief Nyombi Thembo, along with industry stakeholders, partners and customers.

According to The Independent Uganda, the company said the anniversary is a chance to reflect on its growth from an internet connectivity provider into a broader ICT solutions business. Roke Telkom was founded by Ugandans with an early focus on extending internet access to underserved communities, businesses and locations. Its leadership says the company has since expanded its infrastructure, partnerships and services as demand for digital tools has increased.

Chief executive Peter Muhumuza said the milestone also reaffirms Roke Telkom’s commitment to Uganda’s digital development. UCC chief Nyombi Thembo praised the company’s role in the local ICT landscape and said homegrown firms remain important to expanding connectivity and supporting the country’s digital transformation.

The celebration is expected to highlight past achievements, recognise employees, customers and partners, and point to future plans. More broadly, the report places Roke Telkom’s anniversary within Uganda’s ongoing push for wider connectivity and more integrated technology services across businesses and institutions.
