Coventry sign teenage Fenerbahce forward Cherif

What the report says
Coventry City have signed 19-year-old forward Sidiki Cherif from Fenerbahce on a long-term deal, according to BBC Sport Football. The move adds another young attacker to Frank Lampard’s squad as the Championship club continues an active transfer window, with several other arrivals already completed.
Cherif was born in Guinea and moved to France at a young age. BBC Sport reports that he has previously played for Angers and Fenerbahce, and that he finished last season with two goals in 12 Turkish Super Lig appearances after joining the Turkish club from Angers on loan with an obligation to buy. He also featured in European competition, including the Europa League and Champions League qualifying matches.
The report says Cherif began his senior career at Angers, where he made his professional debut in the 2023-24 season. His performances in France and later in Turkey helped attract interest from clubs across Europe. He has also been involved with France youth squads at Under-16 and Under-21 level.
The signing is notable for Coventry as they seek to strengthen around Lampard’s side with players who offer long-term potential. Cherif said he is excited to join the club and wants to show supporters what he can do at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
