Betika commits Shs100m to Ntugasaze FC as club enters Uganda Premier League

What the report says
Betika Uganda has announced a Shs100 million partnership with Ntugasaze Football Club as the newly promoted side prepares for its first season in the Uganda Premier League. The deal was unveiled on August 19 at Kira Road Police Grounds in Kampala, which will serve as Ntugasaze’s home venue for the 2026/27 campaign, according to The Independent Uganda.
The package is meant to support player recognition, fan engagement, digital content and matchday activities through the season. Betika also said it will introduce a Shs150,000 Player of the Match award after each league game, part of an effort to add incentives for players and create a stronger connection with supporters.
Ntugasaze’s rise to the top flight has been rapid. The club, founded in 2018 by sports entrepreneur Yossam Ntegereze, began as a recreational team and later moved up through Uganda’s football system. It earned promotion after finishing second in the 2025/26 FUFA Big League with 53 points from 30 matches. Club chief executive Brian Ogwang Bob said the sponsorship comes at an important moment as the team enters top-tier football.
FUFA licensing official Jeremiah Mugerwa, who attended the event, said Ntugasaze met the requirements for Premier League participation. More broadly, the partnership reflects the growing role of commercial backing in Ugandan football, especially for clubs trying to build competitive squads and broader community support.
