Bunyoro Affairs Minister Mugasa Launches Masindi Women Empowerment Centre

What the report says
State Minister for Bunyoro Affairs Grace Mary Mugasa has launched the construction of a women empowerment centre in Masindi District, according to Nile Post. The project was initiated by Masindi Woman MP Dr Florence Asiimwe and is intended to give women and girls vocational training that can support self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
The centre will be built near the Masindi District headquarters and is planned as a phased development that could eventually expand to four floors. Leaders at the launch said the facility should provide hands-on skills and a dedicated space for women to develop income-generating activities, rather than depending on short-term assistance.
The event drew other figures including Minister of State for Public Service Lydia Wanyoto and East African Legislative Assembly MP Dr Gerald Siranda, alongside local and national leaders. Mugasa said durable projects create a better legacy for communities, while Asiimwe said the idea grew from meeting women who sought help during campaign visits.
Mugasa also said President Yoweri Museveni had contributed Shs10 million to the project. Masindi District Chairman Patrick Owobusobozi pledged district support, saying the centre could improve livelihoods for women in the area. The project fits into a broader regional and national emphasis on skills-based empowerment and women’s economic participation.
