UNEB Investigates Suspected PLE Malpractice in Lwengo and Wakiso

What the report says
The Uganda National Examinations Board is investigating suspected malpractice in two districts as the 2026 Primary Leaving Examinations continue, according to Nile Post. UNEB says one case in Lwengo involved an alleged attempt to cut open an examination envelope to access its contents, while another in Wakiso involved people reportedly trying to bring unauthorized materials into a centre.
UNEB principal public relations officer Jennifer Kalule Musamba said the Lwengo incident happened at about 8 a.m. on Wednesday, and those implicated were arrested and handed to police. In Wakiso, surveillance teams intercepted suspects at Kira Junior School in Kito, where materials believed to have been intended for cheating were recovered. Police are handling the follow-up inquiries in both cases.
The incidents were reported on the second day of the national PLE, when candidates sat Integrated Science in the morning and English later in the day. UNEB said the examination exercise was otherwise proceeding smoothly nationwide, with candidates writing in what it described as a conducive environment.
Kalule urged officials deployed at examination centres to stay alert and prevent cheating. She also said UNEB was receiving reports from other parts of the country about possible interference by teachers or other personnel, but that the board would rely on evidence from scripts and investigations before confirming any malpractice.
