What the report says

Uganda’s Chamber of Energy and Minerals says it will host the 15th Annual Mineral Wealth Conference and Expo on September 29–30, 2026, at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala. According to Watchdog Uganda, the event is being held under the theme “Beneath the Surface: Unlocking Africa’s Next Mining Powerhouse” and is patronized by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, with support from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.

The conference is expected to bring together more than 1,500 delegates, around 50 speakers, 55 exhibitors, and a large contingent of ministers, corporate leaders, and industry professionals. The program is meant to focus on how Uganda and the wider region can turn mineral potential into long-term development through stronger regulation, investment, local processing, environmental safeguards, and support for small-scale miners.

Watchdog Uganda said confirmed speakers include senior government officials such as Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Monica Musenero Masanza and Energy and Mineral Development Minister Jonard Asiimwe Akiiki, alongside regional mining and legal experts. Early sponsors named in the report include Crown Beverages Limited, Tororo Cement, and WTW.

The gathering is being presented as a platform for policymakers, financiers, mining companies, and innovators to network and discuss sector reform. The report also notes Uganda’s push to encourage domestic mineral processing instead of raw exports, which gives the conference added relevance for investors and regional mining policy.
