Huawei Uganda targets young ICT talent in Kyambogo recruitment drive

What the report says
Huawei Technologies Uganda Company Limited plans a campus recruitment drive at Kyambogo University on Friday, August 21, 2026, according to The Independent Uganda. The event will run at CTF 106 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is aimed at final-year students and recent graduates interested in jobs and internships in the technology sector.
The company says the initiative is meant to identify and develop young ICT talent and to strengthen ties between universities and industry. It will bring together students from fields such as engineering, computer science, cybersecurity, finance, logistics, human resources and public administration. Participants are expected to meet Huawei executives, hear from former campus recruits and learn about pathways into the workplace.
The Independent reported that Huawei is framing the drive under the theme “The Sky Is the Limit” and the slogan “A Better U for a Better Uganda.” The company also says successful candidates may enter a structured career development programme with mentorship, training platforms and practical project experience. The effort fits into Huawei’s longer-running skills and digital inclusion work in Uganda, including programs such as the Huawei ICT Academy, the ICT Competition and Seeds for the Future.
More broadly, the recruitment drive comes as Uganda’s digital economy grows and demand rises for skilled workers in telecommunications, software development and cybersecurity. Huawei said it wants to support the country’s digital transformation while helping young people move from university into industry.
