Sheebah’s ‘Kings over men’ message sparks fresh debate online

What the report says
Ugandan singer Sheebah Karungi has triggered a fresh online debate after posting about the kind of partner women should seek, saying they should look for “kings” rather than simply men. In the material published by Sqoop Uganda, the remarks were first shared on social media on October 28, 2026, and quickly drew criticism, support and questions from commenters.
Sheebah’s initial message argued that women should value financial stability and partners who contribute meaningfully to a relationship instead of those who expect the benefits without adding value. She later followed up on October 29 with a longer explanation, setting out examples she said showed the difference between an ordinary man and a “king.” Her points focused on communication, sharing family responsibilities, supporting a woman’s ambitions and accepting accountability when wrong. She also stressed that, in her view, being a “king” is about character, maturity and responsibility rather than wealth.
The posts did not settle the discussion. According to Sqoop Uganda, some social media users said her examples conflicted with her claim that money is not the main measure of worth, while others questioned whether the standards she described were realistic. The wider exchange reflects ongoing public conversations about relationships, financial independence and expectations between partners. Sheebah, who has previously been associated with feminist views, ended her post by saying the debate was meant as a conversation rather than a fight.
