Reijnders leaves Man City for Al-Qadsiah in £52m deal

What the report says
Tijjani Reijnders has completed a £52m transfer from Manchester City to Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah, according to BBC Sport Football. The Netherlands midfielder, who is 28, joined City only last summer from AC Milan for £46.5m but did not fully settle into the side before moving on again.
BBC Sport reported that Reijnders made 50 appearances in all competitions for City and scored seven goals. He was part of Pep Guardiola’s squad in the manager’s final season, helping the club win the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. The article also noted that Reijnders started all three of the Netherlands’ group matches at the 2026 World Cup, before being an unused substitute in the round-of-32 loss to Morocco.
Reijnders said he felt privileged to have played for City and thanked the club’s players, staff and supporters for making him and his family feel welcome. The move is part of a wider summer reshaping at Manchester City, with several midfield departures already reported, including Rodri’s move to Barcelona and Bernardo Silva’s exit on a free transfer to Real Madrid.
BBC Sport said Reijnders has reportedly signed a five-year deal with Al-Qadsiah, who are managed by former Liverpool and Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers. The transfer adds to the growing flow of players moving between top European clubs and Saudi Arabian teams, a broader trend in the market.
