President Museveni commissions new SFC accommodation facilities in Nakasero

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has commissioned new accommodation facilities for personnel of the Special Forces Command (SFC) at Nakasero, according to Watchdog Uganda. The ceremony was presented as part of a wider push to improve welfare, discipline and readiness within Uganda’s armed forces. Museveni, who also serves as Commander-in-Chief of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces, said the project fit a long-standing approach of prioritising essential needs and growing institutions within available means.

In remarks at the event, Museveni linked the investment to lessons from the National Resistance Army’s early years, when he said the force focused first on weapons and training before expanding welfare and infrastructure as resources allowed. He also said it was important for commanders and soldiers to be housed in organised facilities, both for welfare and for operational reasons. The article also reported that he commended State House Comptroller Jane Barekye and the technical team involved in delivering the project.

Barekye said the project began in 2023 and was completed in 2025. She said the two dormitory blocks can accommodate 518 people and credited cooperation between State House departments, consultants, contractors and SFC personnel. SFC commander Maj. Gen. Asaph Mweteise Nyakikuru said the new facilities would support morale and professional development, while technical adviser Prof. John Stanley Ralph Senfuma said the work was completed by Ugandan labour. The commissioning took place in Nakasero, with senior SFC commanders and State House administrators in attendance.
