Police Investigate Alleged Sale of Government ARVs in Moyo

What the report says
Police in Moyo District are investigating allegations that government-issued antiretroviral drugs were diverted and sold illegally, according to Nile Post. The report says the matter was brought to Moyo Police Station on Wednesday, August 19, by the district health officer, Dr Franklin Amuli Idi, after concerns emerged about the alleged sale of public medicines.
Two men, identified in the police report only as Dragu, 58, and Stanislaus, 58, both residents of Madagascar Village in Aluru Parish, have been named as suspects. Police said the alleged transaction is believed to have happened somewhere in Moyo District, but key details such as the quantity of drugs, where they came from, and who they may have been meant for have not yet been established.
North West Nile Regional Police spokesperson SP Collins Asea said investigators are trying to determine what happened and who was involved. The inquiry is being handled by the officer in charge of Moyo Police Station, Inspector Godfrey Okello. Police also appealed to members of the public with relevant information to come forward confidentially.
The case highlights concerns about the possible diversion of government health supplies, which can undermine access to treatment for patients who rely on public HIV medicines. The article does not say whether the allegations have been proven, and police said investigations are ongoing.
