What the report says

President Yoweri Museveni has urged residents of Isingiro District to convert their support for the National Resistance Movement into visible economic progress by focusing on hard work and government wealth-creation programmes. His message was delivered by Vice President Jessica Alupo at NRM victory celebrations held in Isingiro on Wednesday, according to Nile Post.

The event brought together hundreds of residents, local leaders and legislators from the district’s five constituencies. It was organised by State Minister for Animal Industry and Isingiro North MP Bright Rwamirama. Museveni said political success should improve daily livelihoods and contribute to national economic transformation, while Rwamirama also stressed that the focus should now move from celebration to household incomes, sustainable agriculture and economic empowerment.

Alupo said the government remains committed to district priorities, including transport links and health facilities. She told residents that several road projects are among the planned interventions, including routes intended to improve movement of people and goods and support trade in the district. The call for a district hospital and better roads was also raised by Isingiro LC5 chairperson Alone Turahi, who said service gaps continue to affect local communities.

The gathering included several ministers and MPs, among them Lydia Wanyoto, Arion Ayereza and Frank Tumwebaze. More broadly, the exchange reflects a recurring theme in Ugandan politics: linking electoral support with expectations of development delivery, especially in infrastructure, health services and rural livelihoods.
