Pogba leaves Monaco after contract termination

What the report says
Former France midfielder Paul Pogba has left AS Monaco after the club terminated his contract following one season, BBC Sport reports. Pogba, 33, had signed a two-year deal until June 2027 when he joined Monaco in June 2025, but the club said the agreed objectives were only partially met. Monaco added that the move had been ambitious and wished him well for the future.
Pogba played six times for Monaco last season, including five substitute appearances. In a brief statement, he said representing the club and the principality was an important experience and thanked Monaco for the chance to return to professional football. The former Juventus player is a 2018 World Cup winner with France.
His return to the sport followed a doping suspension imposed during his time at Juventus. BBC Sport says Pogba was allowed back into professional football in March 2025 after the Court of Arbitration for Sport reduced his ban from four years to 18 months. The report also says he has drawn interest from Major League Soccer clubs, although a hamstring injury suffered at Monaco’s pre-season camp in England could slow any transfer.
The departure ends a short and closely watched spell in Ligue 1 for a high-profile player whose career has been shaped recently by suspension, injury and attempts to rebuild at club level.
