What the report says

Rangers have added right-back Kosta Nedeljkovic from Aston Villa on a season-long loan, with the Scottish club also holding what BBC Sport describes as a conditional obligation to make the move permanent. The 20-year-old Serbia international becomes another summer signing for the Ibrox side as they continue to strengthen the squad for the new season.

According to BBC Sport, Nedeljkovic joined Villa from Red Star Belgrade after agreeing terms in January 2024 and has since spent time on loan at RB Leipzig in Germany. His recent spell in the Bundesliga was disrupted by knee and back injuries, which limited his appearances. Before that, he played 10 times for Aston Villa in all competitions, most of them as a substitute.

Rangers manager Derek McInnes said the defender adds energy and competitiveness to the right side of the team and brings experience from England, Germany and international football. The move also gives Rangers another option in a position that has already seen several players used there this season, underlining the club’s ongoing search for balance and depth in the squad.

Nedeljkovic said he was excited by the size and ambition of Rangers and wanted to help the team succeed. The transfer is part of a busy summer window for the Glasgow club and reflects their wider effort to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts.
