Frank, Young and more join MOTD as BBC launches four new YouTube shows

What the report says
BBC Sport says it is expanding its football coverage for the new men’s season with four new YouTube shows and fresh pundit additions to Match of the Day. Former players Toby Alderweireld, Robbie Keane and Ashley Young, along with ex-Tottenham manager Thomas Frank, will join the BBC’s football analysis lineup. The new YouTube formats — FANS², The Truth About Football, Golden Goal and Football Hub — will sit on the BBC Football channel.
The broadcaster is also putting more emphasis on supporter voices through the BBC Sport Fan Collective, which will include fans from all 20 Premier League clubs. BBC Sport director Alex Kay-Jelski said the aim is to place fans more firmly at the centre of coverage, alongside experienced former players and managers. The BBC said the changes are designed to shape a broader football offer across TV, radio, YouTube, its website and app.
Alongside the new digital content, BBC Radio 5 Live will carry live commentary on 209 Premier League matches this season, plus games from the Champions League, Scottish Premiership, FA Cup, League Cup and international fixtures. BBC television and streaming will continue to show Match of the Day highlights, two FA Cup matches from each round and a weekly Bundesliga match, while clips and highlights from other major competitions will also remain available on BBC platforms. In general, the move shows the BBC trying to keep football audiences engaged across both traditional broadcast and online formats.
