Paul Scholes banned from driving for speeding

What the report says
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has been banned from driving for six months after separate motoring offences led to convictions on consecutive days, according to BBC Sport Football. The 51-year-old was found to have been speeding in two different vehicles in incidents in West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester, with the court process handled through private hearings under the Single Justice Procedure.
BBC Sport reported that one case involved Scholes’s Range Rover on 3 March, when he was caught speeding late at night near Cleckheaton on the A649 Halifax Road. In the second matter, his Mercedes was recorded exceeding the limit on 14 November last year on Mossley Road near Ashton-under-Lyne. Court papers cited by the broadcaster said police could not offer a speed awareness course in the first case because Scholes already had penalty points and had reached the threshold for an automatic ban.
On 12 August at Bradford Magistrates’ Court, Scholes received the six-month disqualification and fines for the first offence. The following day at Manchester Magistrates’ Court, he was given six penalty points and further fines in the second case. BBC Sport said the total costs, fines and court fees came to £1,472. The outlet also noted that Scholes did not enter pleas and was convicted in his absence. Scholes is one of Manchester United’s most decorated former players, having made 499 appearances and won multiple major honours.
