Nakasero Youngsters Rule Seroma Open Table Tennis Championship

Nakasero Table Tennis Club’s young players were the main story at the Seroma Open Table Tennis Championship in Mukono, where they collected multiple titles and individual honors over the three-day event at Seroma School. The tournament drew competitors from several clubs and schools, but Nakasero’s performances stood out across both age-group and open categories.

Joseph Sebatindira delivered the strongest showing for the club, winning the Under-13 boys’ title, the men’s singles crown and the men’s most valuable player award. Other Nakasero winners included Anyango Patience in the Under-13 girls’ category, Parvin Nangonzi in Under-19 girls, Sharif Nsereko in Under-19 boys and Jemimah Nakawala in women’s singles. The players said their results reflected steady training, confidence and preparation.

Coach Alvin Katumba said the competition was a useful test for his team as it builds toward the Uganda Open and future international events. Local school sports officials in Mukono welcomed the tournament as a boost for table tennis development, while Uganda Table Tennis Association vice president Carolina Aziku Driwaru said the event was an opportunity to assess talent and the sport’s growth. She also noted that it was the first championship held after the federation’s registration by the National Council of Sports, which she said could help attract more support and expand talent identification across Uganda.
