Museveni to flag off construction of Kampala Storage Terminal

Watchdog Uganda reports that President Yoweri Museveni is scheduled to preside over the groundbreaking for the Kampala Storage Terminal (KST) on Thursday, September 17, 2026. The project is planned for a roughly 300-acre site in Namwabula, Mpigi District, about 26 kilometres west of Kampala, and is described as a major petroleum storage facility for Uganda.

According to the report, the terminal is expected to hold up to 320 million litres of petroleum products. It will be connected to the planned Uganda Refinery by a 211-kilometre pipeline from Hoima. The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) is said to have secured funding for the estimated US$310 million construction budget, with government support. UNOC will own and operate the terminal once completed.
