MTN Concludes Y'ello Care Campaign with Support to Karita Health Centre IV

What the report says
MTN Uganda has wrapped up its annual 21 Days of Y’ello Care campaign with a donation to Karita Health Centre IV in Amudat District, aimed at improving maternal and newborn care. According to Nile Post, the company provided medical equipment, a solar power package, Mama kits, bicycles and mobile phones to the facility, which serves communities in a hard-to-reach part of Karamoja.
The handover was attended by government and local leaders, including Minister for Karamoja Affairs Esther Anyakun, who said the assistance was timely for health facilities in the region. MTN Uganda’s General Manager for Corporate Services, Dennis Kakonge, said the initiative is meant to address practical community challenges and support healthcare workers with better tools and information. Health workers at the facility also received training in data management and the use of digital tools for collecting and handling health information.
Area MPs welcomed the support but urged MTN and partners to extend similar help to other facilities in Amudat and the wider sub-region. They also highlighted broader infrastructure gaps, including weak network coverage and some health centres still lacking electricity. In general terms, the report places the donation within MTN’s wider community outreach, which focuses on health, education, digital inclusion and livelihoods. The company said Karita Health Centre IV was the final stop in this year’s campaign after earlier interventions in other districts.
