Deputy Katikkiro Calls on Youth to Embrace Marriage and Build Strong Families

What the report says
Buganda Kingdom’s Second Deputy Katikkiro, Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, used a wedding ceremony in Kampala to encourage young people to view marriage positively and build stable homes. Speaking at Lubaga Cathedral during the marriage of Dr Roberta Kasozi, daughter of CBS Radio operations head Robert Kasozi, and lawyer Hilary Mucunguzi Murungi, he said marriage can strengthen family ties, preserve values and support community life.
Nsibirwa told the couple that marriage carries duties for both partners. He advised the groom to provide leadership and care for his family, while urging the bride to stand with her husband through life’s challenges. He also praised Robert Kasozi for long service to the Buganda Kingdom, presenting him as an example of humility, loyalty and hard work that the bride should carry into her own family life.
The service was led by the Bishop of Masaka Diocese, Rev. Fr. Serverus Jjumba, who emphasized communication, trust and placing Jesus Christ at the center of marriage. According to Nile Post, the event drew several Buganda Kingdom officials and other guests before celebrations continued at Speke Resort Munyonyo. The remarks reflect broader efforts by traditional and religious leaders in Uganda to promote marriage and family stability, though the article focused on this specific ceremony.
