Glovo launches AI shopping assistant for ChatGPT and Claude

What the report says
Glovo has introduced an AI-powered shopping assistant that lets customers discover and order items through conversational prompts on ChatGPT and Claude, according to The Independent Uganda. The company, which is based in Spain and operates a quick-commerce marketplace, said the feature was announced on July 30 and is designed to make product search and ordering feel more natural and less dependent on app menus.
The new “Shopping Assistant” connects Glovo’s marketplace to the two generative AI platforms, allowing users to search for products from restaurants and stores, compare prices and receive personalised suggestions. The service can also use location details to check availability and return up to five recommendations in a visual format. Users still complete payment and checkout through the Glovo app or website after selecting a product.
The Independent Uganda reported that Glovo’s chief technology officer, Shiro Theuri, said the integration is meant to meet customers on the digital services they already use and reduce friction in the shopping process. To use it, customers connect their Glovo account through a plug-in and begin requests with “@glovo” followed by a description of what they want.
The launch reflects a wider trend in which companies are bringing generative AI into everyday shopping and service discovery. It also highlights how quick-commerce firms are experimenting with conversational interfaces as they compete to make online ordering faster and more intuitive.
