Dokolo North MP Urges Parents to Send Children Back to School as Third Term Begins

Joseph Jones Ogwal, the Dokolo North County Member of Parliament, used the closing of football tournaments he sponsored in Agwata Sub-county and Bata Town Council to call on parents to send children back to school as the third term of the 2026 academic year began. The appeal was made on Sunday, September 13, 2026, ahead of the Ministry of Education and Sports’ third-term start on Monday, September 14. Ogwal said families should place education first while still encouraging young people to remain active in sport.

According to Dokolo Post, the MP also framed the tournaments as part of a wider effort to support youth development and football in the district. He said work was underway to improve the standard of the game, and mentioned plans to consider forming a Dokolo United team next year to give local talent a stronger competitive platform. Tournament participants were encouraged not to abandon sporting ambitions, with the MP noting that many top footballers began at grassroots level. He also said the events helped keep youth engaged during the holiday period.

Beyond education and sport, Ogwal pointed to several constituency issues he said he has pursued in Parliament and with district leaders. These included electricity access in parts of Dokolo North, rehabilitation of the road linking Adwoki Health Centre III to the Teso border, and follow-up on visits by parliamentary committees to flood-prone areas and Amodo Bridge. He also referenced the cattle restocking programme, ambulance deployment, and urged beneficiaries of the Parish Development Model to repay funds responsibly so others can access the scheme.
