What the report says

Kasana-Luweero Diocese in central Uganda has ordained seven priests and five deacons during a ceremony at Our Lady of Fatima Queen of Peace Cathedral in Kasana, Luweero. Bishop Lawrence Mukasa presided over the Mass and used the occasion to call on the newly ordained clergy to remain faithful to their vocation and serve as strong moral examples in the Church and wider community.

According to Nile Post, Mukasa urged the new priests and deacons to live in a way that reflects their calling, describing them as people who should keep “burning” in service to God and society. He warned them against losing focus as they begin ministry and encouraged them to let their actions speak for them. The ordained priests were Cyprian Kaliisa, Julius Luttamaguzi, Paul Lubega Wasswa, David Kato Nkuggwa, Expedito Kisitu, Mathew Mulamira and Hilary Tubuseeke, while the new deacons were Pontian Ssegawa, Thomas Kijibbiro, Robert Mujjuzi, John Mary Osinde and Peter Matovu.

Fr. David Kato Nkuggwa, speaking for the new priests, thanked parents, teachers and formators for guiding them through formation. The ceremony drew hundreds of worshippers, relatives, religious leaders and local officials.

The report also notes that Katikamu North MP Denis Sekabira used the gathering to urge parents to use the school holiday period to monitor children more closely, especially girls, and to reinforce good morals and cultural values.
