What the report says

The Independent Uganda reports that the first leg of the Hima Cement-sponsored Clash of Titans golf tournament is set for Sept. 12 at Uganda Golf Club in Kampala, with a second leg scheduled for Oct. 10 at the Entebbe Club. The event brings together 21 alumni schools in what the organizers describe as a growing competition among leading Ugandan schools.

According to the report, Mvara Secondary School and Kigezi High School are being viewed as possible surprise contenders, or “dark horses,” in this year’s field. Organiser Milton Edimu said attention is also on schools such as SMACK and Ntare, while noting that Mvara and Kigezi could challenge stronger-known teams. The article also highlights Leonah Nekusa, the brand and communications manager, at a recent launch.

Hima Cement is the main sponsor, joined by several other partners including Jubilee Insurance, I&M Bank, Kenya Airways, Johnnie Walker, Aquafina, MTN MoMo and Farmers Choice. The publication says proceeds from the tournament will support the development of golf in schools, giving the competition a broader youth-sport focus beyond the match results.

The piece adds recent winners for context: King’s College Buddo, St Mary’s Kisubi and Ntare School have shared recent men’s titles, while Bweranyangi Girls has won the ladies’ title in 2024 and 2025.
