Where next for Chelsea's Delap and can he bounce back?

What the report says
BBC Sport reports that Chelsea striker Liam Delap is now available for transfer after only 14 months at Stamford Bridge. The 23-year-old joined from Ipswich Town after Chelsea activated a reported £30m release clause, but the club are now said to view him as surplus to requirements following a season in which he scored once in the Premier League.
According to the report, Chelsea have set an asking price of about £50m, which has cooled interest from other clubs. Nottingham Forest and Leeds have been linked, although Leeds have since backed away. People close to Delap have previously indicated that he had wanted to stay and fight for his place, but he is understood to accept that his performances fell short of expectations.
The BBC says injuries, including hamstring and shoulder problems, plus a turbulent season under three managers, affected his progress and confidence. Delap’s main aim is to secure regular first-team football, either on loan or in a permanent move, though his next destination is unclear.
His situation is part of a broader Chelsea squad reshuffle under new manager Xabi Alonso, with the club trying to reduce a squad of around 40 players. Several others, including Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi and Nicolas Jackson, also face uncertain futures as Chelsea work to trim numbers before the new season.
