MyNorthwest.com’s Seattle Sports reported that the Seattle Seahawks opened training camp Saturday in Renton, returning to work at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center about five and a half months after winning the Super Bowl. The first practice featured the return of wide receiver Tory Horton, who had not practiced since a shin injury ended his 2025 rookie season. Horton handled punts and took part in offensive and 7-on-7 drills, but was held out of later 11-on-11 work as the team eases him back. Coach Mike Macdonald said it was good to see Horton on the field again.

Cornerback Devon Witherspoon was a full participant despite ongoing talks over a reported potential contract extension. Macdonald said he was confident in the team’s process and praised Witherspoon’s approach, saying the cornerback was practicing hard and operating normally. Witherspoon, a three-time Pro Bowler, is among the key defensive players Seattle is watching closely as camp begins.

The report also noted that running back Zach Charbonnet remains on the physically unable to perform list while recovering from an ACL tear suffered during Seattle’s Jan. 17 playoff win over San Francisco. Macdonald said Charbonnet has made strong progress but gave no timetable for his return. Running back Kenny McIntosh also remains without a return timeline after an ACL injury from 2025 training camp.

Seattle’s camp is receiving added attention because HBO’s “Hard Knocks” crew is filming the team. MyNorthwest reported extra cameras and microphones around the practice fields, including cameras following quarterback Sam Darnold. Other notes included tight ends AJ Barner and Eric Saubert returning to practice, first-round pick Jadarian Price sharing first-team running back reps with George Holani, and veteran edge rusher Dante Fowler Jr. sitting out for precautionary reasons.
