What the report says

West Ham United have dismissed head coach Nuno Espirito Santo after a poor start to their Championship campaign, according to the reporting from Nile Post citing broader coverage. Nuno, 52, had been in charge since September 2025 and was appointed after the club’s relegation from the Premier League last season. The club also confirmed that assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeper coach Rui Barbosa have left.

The decision comes with West Ham sitting eighth in the Championship, six points off leaders Middlesbrough, despite being widely expected to challenge for automatic promotion. Their form has dipped after an early surge: the team lost consecutive home matches to Southampton and West Bromwich Albion, and had won only two of their previous six league games. Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville will take temporary charge for the next match against Cardiff City.

West Ham said the change followed a review of the season’s opening games and that a new head coach search is already under way. The dismissal adds to a run of managerial turnover at the club over the past year and a half, with the London side now looking for their fourth permanent manager since David Moyes left in 2024. BBC Sport also reported that West Ham are in talks with Scott Parker as a possible replacement.
