What the report says

Nile Post reports that V&A Sherry has entered a partnership with Miss Universe Uganda ahead of the pageant’s grand finale, scheduled for August 1 at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala. The collaboration is tied to Uganda’s first Miss Universe Uganda competition, which is expected to select the country’s first delegate to the international Miss Universe event.

According to the report, the competition was launched in May and is being organised by Joram Model Management. Nile Post says the organisers are positioning the pageant around more than appearance, with leadership, advocacy and community involvement presented as central themes. V&A Sherry says its role will include helping spotlight contestants’ personal stories and qualities such as confidence, resilience and compassion.

Roy Ronald Tumwizere, V&A Sherry Brand Manager at Uganda Breweries Limited, said the partnership fits the brand’s broader support for women pursuing their ambitions and using their platforms for community change. Nile Post also notes that V&A Sherry has previously backed women-focused initiatives, including work with the Miss Uganda Foundation.

The partnership matters because it links a commercial brand to the launch of a new national pageant platform that aims to send Uganda into the Miss Universe system for the first time. While the report frames the collaboration as a boost for women’s leadership and representation, the key immediate milestone will be the Kampala finale, where the inaugural Miss Universe Uganda titleholder is set to be crowned.
