PRAU crowns 50th anniversary celebrations with 10th PRAU Excellence Awards

What the report says
The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) marked its 50th anniversary with the 10th PRAU Excellence Awards at the Source of the Nile Hotel in Jinja City, according to The Independent Uganda. The event, held on October 23, recognised communication professionals, agencies and organisations for work in public relations, strategic communication and campaign management.
Among the top honourees, Pearl Bank collected several gold awards, including for corporate storytelling and overall campaign performance. Other winners included brainchild Burson, Lynn Nansirumbi, Uganda Breweries Limited, TotalEnergies EP Uganda, Airtel Uganda, the Electricity Regulatory Authority, Uganda Red Cross Society and Crown Beverages Limited. The article also noted silver runners-up across categories, reflecting a broader field of entrants.
PRAU President Irene Nakasiita used the occasion to pay tribute to the association’s founder, the late James R. Mutabaazi, and to explain how past presidents remain on the governing council to preserve continuity. She also said the awards were independently validated by PwC and judged against set criteria. Guest of honour Alhaji Osman Noor Ahmed, the Second Deputy Prime Minister for Obwa Kyabazinga Bwa Busoga, urged communicators to build trust through accurate, transparent and accountable messaging rather than publicity alone.
The piece also reported that judges reviewed more than 44 entries and encouraged stronger use of research and campaign evaluation. In a wider programme of anniversary activities, PRAU members also visited Bujagali Hydropower Plant and Kiira Motors Corporation for learning and networking.
