US Alumni Games of Impact Turn Sport Into a Movement for Community Health

What the report says
The Nile Post reports that the USEA Games of Impact 2026 brought together more than 400 participants and 28 teams in Uganda for a day that mixed sport, networking and fundraising for community health. The event was organised by the US Exchange Alumni Network Uganda (USEA Uganda) with the Rotaract Corporate League and Gazaland UOX, and drew professionals, corporate groups, public institutions, development partners and community supporters.
According to the report, the activities included football, cycling, wife carrying, sack races and egg races, among other recreational contests. Organisers said the aim was not only competition but also relationship-building and support for a medical camp planned for vulnerable residents in Bwaise. USEA Uganda said its wider network includes more than 6,000 Ugandan professionals who have taken part in U.S. Government-sponsored exchange programmes and continue to work on health, education, leadership, entrepreneurship and civic engagement projects.
USEA Uganda President Owomugisha said the event showed how sport can connect people and channel support toward a shared community cause. The group says the money and partnerships generated through the games will help power the USEA Mega Medical Camp scheduled for December 12, 2026, in Bwaise.
That camp is expected to offer free medical consultations, treatment, medicines, health screening, health education and referrals. More broadly, the initiative reflects a growing use of sports-based community events in Uganda to mobilise resources and attention for public health needs, though the report focuses on this specific campaign and its upcoming medical outreach.
