UK rapper Yung Filly found not guilty of raping woman after Australian show

BBC World News reported that UK rapper and YouTuber Yung Filly has been acquitted of several serious charges linked to an allegation that he sexually assaulted a fan after a performance in Australia in 2024. The performer, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, had been on trial in Perth over accusations involving a woman who was 20 at the time, after he appeared at a nightclub in Hillarys, a coastal suburb of the city.

According to the BBC, a jury on Friday found the 30-year-old not guilty on three counts of sexual penetration without consent. Jurors were unable to reach verdicts on three further counts of the same charge. Barrientos was also cleared of one count of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of strangulation.

The jury did convict him on two counts of assault. The BBC reported that he will remain on bail until 21 August, when the court is expected to determine a sentencing date. Prosecutors must also decide whether to continue with the charges on which the jury could not agree.

Barrientos is widely known online through his work with the YouTube group Beta Squad. He has also appeared on the celebrity edition of The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4 and has presented programmes for BBC Three. The mixed verdict leaves the case partly unresolved, with sentencing still pending on the assault convictions and prosecutorial decisions still to come on the hung counts.
