Two men receive jail terms for violent burglary of Man City’s Donnarumma

Two men have been sentenced in Paris over the violent burglary of Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, now of Manchester City, and his partner during the player’s spell at Paris Saint-Germain. The case concerns a July 2023 attack at the couple’s luxury apartment on Avenue Montaigne in central Paris, where masked intruders broke in through the roof, threatened them with knives and stole cash, jewellery, watches and handbags.

According to the report from Al Jazeera, one defendant, Ilyas Kherbouch, described by prosecutors as the main organiser, received a nine-year prison term and a fine. Another defendant, Moktar D, was given five years, with two suspended. A third man suspected of helping coordinate the robbery from prison was acquitted. Prosecutors had sought longer sentences for the accused. Donnarumma and his then fiancée, Alessia Elefante, were reportedly bound and assaulted during the ordeal; the article says Elefante was also choked and later suffered a miscarriage that was blamed on the trauma.

The burglary drew attention because it targeted a high-profile footballer in an affluent Paris district that prosecutors said has seen a rise in celebrity robberies.
