What the report says

President Yoweri Museveni has called on residents of Isingiro District in western Uganda to convert the National Resistance Movement’s recent election success into practical economic gains for households and communities. According to Nile Post, his message was delivered by Vice President Jessica Alupo during celebrations in Isingiro County North marking the NRM’s victory.

Museveni said the ruling party’s political support should be matched by hard work, unity and greater use of government wealth-creation programmes. He pointed to initiatives such as the Parish Development Model, Operation Wealth Creation and Emyooga, saying they were meant to help improve livelihoods and reduce poverty. The president also thanked voters in the area, including supporters led by MP and State Minister for Animal Industry Col. Bright Rwamirama, for backing the NRM in the presidential election.

In the remarks attributed to the president, he framed the vote as an endorsement of the NRM’s record on development and said the party had continued to push infrastructure and grassroots economic growth. Alupo echoed that message, telling residents that government remains committed to improving health, education and infrastructure, while also urging communities to actively use available services and programmes.

The comments come as Uganda’s ruling party seeks to link political mandate with delivery on development promises. More broadly, they reflect a familiar theme in government messaging: that electoral support should translate into stronger household incomes and local economic transformation.
