TOORO: Musuuga gifted Shs180 million land cruiser

Tooro subjects and supporters have raised 180 million shillings to buy a new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado for Prince Charles Kamurasi, who heads the Babiito royal clan, as a show of appreciation for his service to the kingdom. The vehicle was presented on Saturday afternoon at Karuziika Palace in Fort Portal, according to The Independent Uganda’s report based on URN information.

Monsignor Isaiah Mayombo, who chaired the organizing committee for the coronation of the new king-designate, handed over the vehicle and described it as a token of gratitude for Kamurasi’s guidance, consistency and commitment. Fr Charles Oyo, the Babiito clan spokesperson, said the gesture was meant to honor Kamurasi’s role during a difficult period for Tooro and to recognize his efforts to defend the kingdom’s interests and dignity.

Michael Mugisa, one of the contributors, said the money came from different supporters and was intended to help Kamurasi move around more easily. He added that the Land Cruiser is a personal gift and not an official vehicle for the office of Musuuga. Organizers also said fundraising is continuing, with plans to create a Musuuga Foundation to support related activities and office needs.

Kamurasi thanked the people of Tooro for what he called an expression of unity and patriotism. He urged subjects to set aside differences and work together as the kingdom moves into a new chapter after the death of Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
