Three US states to hold executions on same day for first time since 2010

Tennessee, Alabama and Oklahoma are scheduled to carry out lethal-injection executions on the same day, which would be the first such three-state event in the United States since 2010, according to Al Jazeera. The cases involve three men convicted of murders in different years and different states. Al Jazeera said the executions are set for Thursday.

In Tennessee, Anthony Darrell Hines is to be executed for the 1985 killing of motel maid Catherine Jean Jenkins in Kingston Springs. In Alabama, Jeremy Williams is scheduled to die for the 2021 rape and murder of five-year-old Kamarie Holland. In Oklahoma, Carlos Cuesta-Rodriguez is set to be executed for fatally shooting his girlfriend, Olimpia Fisher, in 2003.

The report also noted broader execution patterns in the US. It said 11 states carried out executions in 2025, and that if the Tennessee and Alabama cases proceed, six states will have carried out executions in 2026. Alabama authorities said Williams asked for his sentence to be carried out, while Oklahoma would be carrying out its third execution this year and the 20th under Gov. Kevin Stitt.

The planned executions come amid continued decline in public support for capital punishment. As background, Al Jazeera cited a Gallup poll showing the share of Americans who view the death penalty as morally acceptable at its lowest level since the 1970s.
