What the report says

Police in Lwengo District have arrested three men they suspect of belonging to a housebreaking and theft gang operating in Kyazanga Town and nearby areas, according to Nile Post. The arrests were made during an overnight security operation in the early hours of Tuesday, November 3, after officers said they had been tracking the group for some time.

The suspects were identified as Ashiraf Kisseka, Henry Twikirize and Swaib Sseremba. Police said the men are linked to a series of break-ins in which household property was allegedly stolen from residents, raising concern about security in the area. Officers also reported recovering items during the operation, including laptops, electric irons and other household goods believed to have been taken in the thefts.

Masaka Regional Police Spokesperson Twaha Kasirye said the suspects had been under surveillance and described them as organized housebreakers operating as a gang. He said police would continue pursuing other people connected to criminal activity in Lwengo and surrounding communities, and that the arrested men would be processed for court.

The case highlights continuing concerns about household thefts in parts of Lwengo District. Police urged residents to stay alert, report suspicious activity and work with security agencies while investigations continue. The report does not give the full scale of the alleged thefts or how many homes may have been affected.
