What the report says

Nearly 100 residents of Kikamulo Sub-county in Nakaseke District have been advised to use Parish Development Model (PDM) funds for the income-generating activities they applied for, rather than spending the money on personal needs. According to Nile Post, the beneficiaries had received training on how to use the government programme to improve household incomes.

The warning was delivered by Nakaseke District Assistant Resident District Commissioner Sulaiman Kabaale during a meeting with local residents. He cautioned that the money was intended to support household income generation and should not be diverted to unrelated expenses. Kabaale specifically warned men not to use the funds to take additional wives, and said authorities would act against anyone who misused or tried to steal the money.

Kabaale also encouraged residents to set aside political differences and support government development programmes. He said community progress should not be undermined by local rivalries. Kikamulo Sub-county Chairperson Robert Ssenu also backed the appeal, urging beneficiaries to spend the funds responsibly and praising residents for working together to protect community land from alleged encroachment.

The PDM is a Ugandan government initiative designed to help households move from subsistence farming into the money economy through parish-level investment. In this context, the report highlights ongoing efforts to improve oversight and ensure the funds reach their intended economic purpose.
