What the report says

Police in Luweero District have recovered a five-year-old girl who was reported missing while she was buying a pancake in Mabale Village, Luweero Town Council, according to Nile Post. The child was later reunited with her parents after an investigation that led officers to a home in Nkologe Village, Nakikota Parish, Luweero Sub-county. Three suspects were arrested as the inquiry continued.

The report says the case began on October 28, 2026, and that detectives followed several leads before locating the girl. Savannah Region police spokesperson ASP Sam Twiineamazima said officers first searched a witchdoctor’s shrine after a man identified as Muhammad Ssekanjako guided the child’s parents there. That search did not produce the girl, and police then re-interviewed Ssekanjako.

Nile Post reports that Ssekanjako later allegedly admitted kidnapping the child and said he had handed her to his brother, Frank Musisi. Police then recovered the girl from Musisi’s home, where his wife and mother were arrested. Musisi reportedly fled. The article says preliminary findings suggest the suspect may have wanted to adopt the child because he had no children of his own, though police were still investigating.

Authorities said the girl was examined and found to be in good health before being returned to her biological parents, Hassan Wassanga and Joyce Babirye. Police said the file would be submitted for legal guidance as the case proceeds.
