The result represented a roughly 30% decline from opening weekend, a small drop for a major blockbuster, and marked Nolan’s strongest second-weekend performance to date before adjusting for inflation.

The film’s global total has reached an estimated $639.6 million, including $128.3 million from international markets over the weekend. Premium formats continue to be a major driver: IMAX accounted for $48 million worldwide during the frame, while 70 mm IMAX screenings brought in $5.2 million. AP reported that theaters have been adding showtimes to meet demand, with many 70 mm IMAX screenings sold out well into September.

The weekend box office had little major new competition, helping “The Odyssey” maintain momentum. Disney titles followed far behind domestically, with “Moana” estimated at $10.5 million and “Toy Story 5” at $10 million. “Toy Story 5” also crossed $1 billion worldwide in its fifth weekend, becoming the sixth Pixar release to reach that benchmark. Other notable performers included Bleecker Street’s filmed stage release of “Hadestown: The Musical” and Olivia Wilde’s “The Invite.”
