Sterling admits dangerous driving after motorway crash

What the report says
Former England winger Raheem Sterling has admitted dangerous driving and related offences after a motorway crash in May, according to BBC Sport Football. The 31-year-old appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to driving a Lamborghini Urus dangerously on stretches of the M25, M3, A327 and Minley Road before the vehicle struck barriers and a metal gate near the M3 in Hampshire. He also admitted possessing nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
BBC reported that the incident happened on the morning of 28 May near the Minley interchange, with Hampshire Police previously saying it was a single-vehicle collision. No other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported. The court heard Sterling had drifted into the motorway’s central reservation before ending up in a layby. He was said to have been carrying six canisters of nitrous oxide.
Sterling, who has 82 England caps and last played for the national team at the 2022 World Cup, is currently without a club after a short spell with Feyenoord and earlier time at Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City. He has been disqualified from driving until sentencing, which is due on 25 November. The case matters because it involves a high-profile former international footballer facing sentencing for offences linked to a serious road incident.
