What the report says

St. Jude Catholic Parish has begun a fundraising marathon to help finance the roofing of its new church building, according to Wakiso District Local Government. The parish says it needs Shs 600 million to complete this stage of construction and provide a larger, more suitable place of worship for its growing congregation. The construction committee expressed confidence that the roof could be completed before the end of the year if support continues.

The fundraising drive was officially flagged off by Wakiso District Chairperson Eng. Ian Kyeyune, who pledged 30 iron sheets for the project and said the district values cooperation with faith-based institutions in community development. He also used the event to encourage parents and guardians to take advantage of the remaining days of the National Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign to immunize eligible children. That appeal was part of a broader public health message delivered alongside the parish event.

Parish priest Rev. Fr. Ronnie Mubiru asked Christians, friends of the parish and other well-wishers to contribute generously so the church can be finished. He also urged believers to work hard and pursue economic improvement, saying stronger livelihoods help families support church and community development. The update from Wakiso frames the project as both a religious and community effort, with local leaders and parish members relying on collective support to move construction forward.
