What the report says

Fox News reported that authorities in Grenada are searching for Elizabeth “Liz” Waddell, a 44-year-old physical therapist from the Raleigh, North Carolina, area who disappeared during a Caribbean vacation. The Royal Grenada Police Force said Waddell was last seen Wednesday near Grand Anse Beach in St. George’s, close to where she was staying in the Grand Anse area. Police described her as 5 feet 5 inches tall with short blonde hair and circulated a photo in which she had pink hair.

According to Fox News, citing WRAL News, Waddell had traveled to Grenada with a friend. That friend reportedly said Waddell was outside their Airbnb in a swimsuit while the friend took an online course, and later was no longer visible; a towel was found on a pier. The friend became worried because Waddell did not have her phone and eventually filed a missing-persons report.

Fox News reported that Waddell’s husband, Cailen, said on social media Friday that he was traveling to Grenada to help with the search and asked people with island connections to share information. Grenada Broadcasting Network reported that police officers, divers and students from St. George’s University were assisting in the effort. The U.S. State Department told Fox News Digital it was aware of reports of a missing American citizen in Grenada but declined further detail, citing privacy.

Police asked fishermen, boat operators and residents along Grenada’s southern coast to report possible sightings. The Royal Grenada Police Force listed the South Saint George Police Station, the Criminal Investigation Department, emergency line 911 and nearby police stations as points of contact for information.
